Car accident kills 1 in Virginia

Recently, a 75-year-old man died from critical injuries in a crash between a truck and a moped. On a Thursday morning, a car accident occurred just before 7 a.m. in Virginia when a sports utility vehicle turned onto an adjoining road and hit a moped being driven by the accident victim. The moped driver was critically injured and died later at the hospital.

The driver of the older model SUV was not injured in the crash. It is unknown whether criminal charges will be filed against the SUV driver involved in this crash. Police are still investigating.

A multi-vehicle crash often leaves authorities in question as to the cause, and sometimes the investigation takes some time.  When an accident such as this happens, the victim's surviving family members often feel at a loss while they are preparing to pay for the final expenses concerning their loved one. Some who suffer the this type of loss seek guidance from a personal injury lawyer to determine if they have a civil claim to seek monetary damages.

In appropriate circumstances, a family may be able to recover financial losses due to a fatal car accident. A lawyer experienced in handling wrongful death claims can provide advice and support to the family with regard to their right to pursue a civil lawsuit in a Virginia court. Filing a suit is no guarantee of securing a judgment, and competent proof of negligence by another party to the collision will be necessary in order to establish financial liability.
