Virginia motorcycle accident kills 1, injures 2

A tragic wreck in Virginia on Memorial Day weekend has left one driver dead and a passenger injured. At 11:30 a.m. on that Saturday, a 20-year-old female driver of a car pulled onto a road and struck a motorcycle that was traveling west. The 71-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was transported to Lynchburg General where he later died from his injuries caused by the motorcycle accident.

The man's wife, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, suffered serious injuries, including a broken leg. She was also taken to Lynchburg General for treatment. Both husband and wife were thrown from the motorcycle in the accident.

Police reported that more motorcycles are on the road as warmer weather moves into the area. They urge motorists to be aware of their surroundings as they travel the roadways. This includes diligently checking the blind spots on their vehicles.

As the Lynchburg Police Department and the Virginia State Police are still investigating the motorcycle accident, charges are pending against the 20-year-old female driver of the car involved. She was also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries but was later released. There were no reports on the nature of her exact injuries.

Motorcycle accidents are often more deadly than accidents of other types of vehicles on Virginia roadways. This is usually due to the motorcycle drivers and passengers having less protection around their bodies. Victims of these deadly crashes may be interested in speaking with an attorney who can help to file a wrongful death suit in a civil court to help loved ones left behind.
