Virginia truck accident leaves 1 dead

Virginia roadways can be dangerous during high traffic times. A recent truck accident in Chesterfield County involving four vehicles endangered the lives of many drivers. The accident included two tractor trailers, a pickup truck and an SUV.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes of Route 288 at approximately 1:07 p.m. on a recent Monday. All southbound lanes and the inside lane of the northbound lane were closed while investigators cleared the crash scene and conducted an investigation. Apparently, the accident occurred when a tractor trailer ran into the back of a pickup truck and pushed it forward.

The pickup then hit another tractor trailer and then an SUV. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, but there were no other reported injuries in the crash. The Virginia State Police are investigating the crash, and a charge of reckless driving is expected to be filed against the driver of the tractor trailer that rear ended the pickup.

The loved ones of a victim of a fatal truck accident may gain by speaking with a Virginia lawyer who can help assess the facts and determine if a lawsuit claim is a viable option -- and against which party or parties. Each case is different so having an attorney who is experienced in handling wrongful death claims will be helpful. Also, a conviction in criminal court regarding charges stemming from a fatal crash could prove helpful in establishing financial liability in a civil court proceeding based upon the same accident.
