Virginia man dies in motorcycle accident

One man has died after a crash in Fairfax County, Virginia. The motorcycle accident happened on route 123 just before 3 p.m. on a recent Monday. The investigation is ongoing by the Fairfax County police department.

Two motorcycles were headed south on the roadway when a box truck crossed in their path. The truck was traveling north when the driver attempted a left turn. Reports indicate that the two motorcycles may have been speeding.

The motorcycle in the right lane passed ahead of the truck and continued on; that driver's identity is unknown and police are looking for him or her. The motorcycle in the left lane, driven by a 25 year old male, tried to go behind the truck. However, instead of passing by the truck, the motorcycle hit the truck at the left rear side. The driver was then thrown from his motorcycle.

The 25-year-old driver suffered critical injuries and was transported by police helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 8 p.m. No charges were filed at the time, but the investigation is ongoing.

The families of victims of a fatal motorcycle accident may wish to speak to an attorney about their options of filing a civil suit for loss and suffering. This could include loss of wages, medical care costs and final expenses. The family may also file a suit for wrongful death in a Virginia civil court if the police find that the truck driver or the other motorcycle driver was at fault for the fatal accident.
