What are some signs of a concussion?

On Behalf of | Feb 9, 2021 | Injuries | 0 comments

After a car crash, you may notice odd and increasingly prevalent feelings of pain in your head and body.

Concussions are a type of traumatic brain injury, and they can seriously disrupt your life if you do not notice the symptoms as they occur.

Mental struggles

According to the Mayo Clinic, many people with a concussion report fogginess of the mind, along with a general feeling of confusion. These physical complications can lead to garbled speech or an inability to answer direct questions without a delay. You may struggle to remember where you are or what you were doing just minutes ago, and be especially sensitive to bright lights or loud noises.

In some extreme cases, you may even lose consciousness after a crash. Many people report varying levels of dizziness as well. This lack of concentration and focus is a major sign of a concussion. When these problems worsen as the day or week goes on, you may need to seek emergency medical help.

Physical problems

Vomiting or nausea are common side effects of a concussion, and seizures are another serious problem. If you suspect you may have a concussion, you should check for visible bruises or other bumps around the area on your skin you sustained injuries.

A sudden change in how you taste food or smell scents can be a sign of worsening health issues. Not all complications from a concussion can appear right away. Some of them may only become more noticeable days after an accident. However, it is always important to stay alert and take note of any health problems after a car crash.
